The Tampa Bay Library Consortium, in conjunction with the Manatee County Public Library & Foundation, has honored Anna Maria Oyster Bar with the Library Champion award, presented on October 9, 2018, at the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners meeting. This highly-esteemed award recognizes those who have demonstrated exceptional support for, and attention to, libraries.
Improving childhood literacy is a major philanthropic initiative of the Anna Maria Oyster Bar family – and while we don’t do what we do for awards or recognition – it’s certainly a great feeling to be appreciated. This award, along with other recognitions for Dive Into Reading, will help us serve more schoolchildren in the summers to come.
For those who hadn’t heard about our summer reading program, Dive Into Reading enables hundreds of children from Title I schools to continue reading books during their summer break. This ensures that children not only stay on grade level but that they also have the chance to excel during the following school year.
We want to take a moment to send a BIG “thank you” to the Tampa Bay Library Consortium and Manatee County Public Library/Manatee County Library Foundation for this awesome honor. #DiveIntoReading would not be possible without our amazing crew at the Anna Maria Oyster Bars, the incredible dedication of our volunteer mentors and all the partners that collaborate with us.
