AMOB goes to Washington, D.C. This year, the Annual Crosthwait Memorial Fishing Tournament & The Bradenton Yacht Club, hosted the 7th annual Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Tournament on May 19, 2018. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) is a nationwide program bringing high-quality, full-spectrum fly fishing to disabled active military service personnel across the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, in Military Hospitals and the Warrior Transition Command. According to their website, PHWFF has become recognized as an innovative leader and model in the field of therapeutic outdoor recreation for the disabled, through its successful application of the sport of fly fishing as a rehabilitation tool.

As you may know,  we are HUGE supporters of local education! So, we stayed busy celebrating during Teacher Appreciation Week and our Class of 2018 graduates! We are so happy to have the opportunity to highlight and support local educators and students. Congratulations Class of 2018! John and Amanda hosted the AMOB employees who are graduating this spring for a wonderful Brunch at the Pier honoring their achievements. Education in the community is near and dear to our heart. Whether it be raising money for scholarships, donating, community outreach programs, partnering with the school district for programs… I could go on – you name it, when it comes to education, we’re about it. When I was asked to visit the Hillsborough Community College (HCC) Tampa campus for an appearance at the Hospitality and Tourism Marketing Class, of course I couldn’t say no! SCF’s New Library & Learning Center Grand Opening In February, we had the honor of representing the Bradenton Kiwanis at the State College of Florida’s grand opening for their newly constructed library. The Bradenton Kiwanis Foundation donated $10,000 to construct a Young Adult and Children’s Reading Room in SCF’s new Library & Learning Center. According to SCF, “the Bradenton Kiwanis gift will add to the SCF library’s current collection of young adult and children’s literature, which is accessible to anyone with a Manatee or Sarasota County library card”. The new building looks like a phenomenal addition to the SCF campus.

Forks & Corks Food and Wine Festival is a fabulous event the Sarasota-Manatee Originals organizes each year. Popular enough for tickets to sell out in a matter of minutes, it goes without saying what an attraction it is for the area. The festival brings together over 50 local and diverse food and wine vendors from the Sarasota-Manatee Originals, including Anna Maria Oyster Bar.
